The Knight of Rebellion [Info/Permissions/Kinks]
Because Mordred is featured as a Servant from the Saber class of the Fate/ series, but also exists as a character in Arthurian mythology, I'll be drawing from both sources - though I will seek to maintain as close to the Fate/ canon as possible. Absolutely open to AUs and cross-canon!
CHARACTER NAME: Mordred (will also answer to ‘Saber’)
CHARACTER SERIES: Fate/ (Specifically Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Grand Order)
CLASS: Servant; Saber
ABILITIES:
Master Swordsman – Though lacking the finesse and grace of a typical knight, there is no doubt that Mordred possesses incredible skill when wielding a sword. Truly it is a skill necessary to become a knight at all. But Mordred in life and as a Heroic Spirit has been listed among one of the strongest swordsmen among the Throne of Heroes. There are precious few who can boast her equal in this regard, and even fewer who are superior.
Noble Phantasm – Clarent Blood Arthur; an anti-army Noble Phantasm. When activated, Mordred must grasp the sword with both hands in order to control the path of the attack. The blade of the sword stains red from the blood of her father, obtained from the killing blow she inflicted during their final battle. Red lightning flickers around the blade and around Mordred herself. Mordred need only raise the sword and bring it down in a sweeping arc to send the blood radiance focused by the blade on her enemy in a bright flash of red light, which sends a wave of pure destruction wherever she aims. This was not the sword’s original power; Mordred’s pure hatred for Arthur was so great that the sword became twisted. She even named the attack for Arthur, so it is not unlike a grudge curse placed upon the blade just prior to Mordred’s death. The Noble Phantasm is capable of destroying everything in its path, but it takes a great deal of energy to use, and gives her intense pain throughout her body afterwards. Mordred’s recovery time depends upon the skill and mana supply of her Master. It is important to note that her helmet must be removed in order to use her Noble Phantasm.
Mana Burst – Mordred can focus her mana to dramatically increase her speed and strength. This allows her to leap higher and move faster than typical Servants, especially given the size and weight of her armor.
WEAPONS:
Clarent – Being a Saber-class Servant, perhaps Mordred’s most vital weapon is her sword, Clarent. Often confused with Excalibur, Clarent was also once wielded by King Arthur. But upon receiving Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake, Clarent was locked away into the armory for safekeeping. Upon inciting her rebellion, Mordred stole Clarent and thus was able to rally more knights to her cause. However, because she was not recognized as successor by King Arthur, Mordred was not granted royal status typically given by wielding Clarent. Nevertheless, it is the weapon she used to kill King Arthur at the Battle of Camlann.
Magic Helm/Secret of Pedigree – Morgan Le Fay gifted Mordred with a magic helmet, commanding her to never remove it in front of others. The helmet and her Secret of Pedigree allow Mordred to conceal her identity as Arthur Pendragon’s heir. When she needs to remove it, the helmet actually splits into separate pieces, then connects to her full suit of armor. It is important to note that her helmet must be removed in order to use her Noble Phantasm.
Berserker Strength – Unlike other Knights of the Round Table, Mordred fights dirty and does not acknowledge typical ‘rules’ of combat. She is just as likely to get into a fist-to-fist bar fight as she is to get into a formal battle for the Holy Grail. She fights wildly with the strength of a beast, which can allow her to be summoned as a Berserker-class Servant on occasion, albeit rarely. Even without her sword, this incredible strength makes Mordred alone a threat – though it does require a great deal of mana from her Master to maintain.
BIO:
"Hush, child. The darkness will rise from the deep…and carry you down into sleep…"
One might say that the Rebellious Knight Mordred was doomed from the time of conception.
Merlin had cast a spell over Arturia, otherwise known as Arthur Pendragon, the legendary King of Knights. Although the king had been born female, she masqueraded as a man. Merlin used his magic to make Arturia truly male, if only temporarily. Morgan le Fay took advantage of that. She tricked Arturia with her magic and extracted some of her semen, which she then injected into herself to conceive and carry a child.
Mordred, the Knight of Rebellion.
Technically conceived by Morgan as a homunculus clone of Arturia, Mordred developed within the womb much faster than a normal fetus. She also aged much quicker than normal children after she was born. Morgan raised Mordred to surpass and defeat Arturia and become king. At first Mordred was reluctant, seeing the king as perfect; how could she possibly surpass perfection? Upon growing to proper size and apparent age, despite being significantly young, Mordred was given a magic helmet by Morgan, and sought to become one of King Arthur’s knights. With her fighting skills and devotion to the king, it was a simple task for her. Morgan had warned Mordred to never remove her helmet in front of the others, the king especially, and so her identity was concealed.
”Just how long do you intend to play knight? You are heir to the throne. So stop living in his shadow, you are his child! His living essence!”
When knights began rebelling against the king, Mordred slaughtered them without hesitation. So eager was she to prove herself worthy to King Arthur. After serving the King faithfully, Mordred began to wear on her mother’s patience. Morgan revealed Mordred’s parentage, that King Arthur was her father, and that the time had come to move for the throne. Rather than become angry, Mordred was elated and eagerly went to King Arthur. She revealed herself as his “son” and begged for his recognition. Even if she had been conceived as a homunculus and was not a normal child, surely being of the king’s blood would exemplify her and make her more than a legitimate heir.
But rather than be met with affection, Mordred was spurned.
“I see. Even if you were born my sister's plotting, you were certainly born from me. However, I will not recognize you as my son nor will I give you the throne."
It was a slap in the face for Mordred. For all her hard work, for all her devotion and admiration – it amounted to nothing. Arthur would not accept her because she had been born of Morgan le Fay. Because her devotion had run so deep, Mordred’s fury burned even hotter, and would not be suppressed.
”I WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU’VE WORKED FOR, DO YOU HEAR ME? ARTHUUUUUUUUUR!!”
Mordred’s opportunity to exact her vengeance and fully ignite her rebellion came from a most unexpected source. Lancelot and Guinevere had been carrying on a torrid affair behind Arthur’s back, and their secret was discovered by Mordred and Agravain, and the latter immediately went to the King. Lancelot fled to save his life, and Arthur pursued. Mordred seized her opportunity, stealing the sacred sword Clarent from the armory and amassing the remaining knights to her side.
Mordred led her army against Arthur and his, until finally they clashed at Camlann.
With both armies dying, the two faced each other on a hill of swords. Almost everyone around them was dead, the hill they stood upon littered with swords and spears from fallen knights. Mordred, mad with bloodlust and vengeance, ignored the weariness in her body and mocked Arthur.
“How’s this? Do you see, King Arthur? Your kingdom will end here! Such is my vengeance for you not relinquishing the throne to me. Do you hate me? Do you detest me that much? Is it because I am the child of a witch? Answer me, Arthur!!”
Wordlessly, the King of Knights engaged the Knight of Rebellion in combat. Mordred, despite her exhaustion, knocked Excalibur from Arthur’s hand. Only then did Arthur reply as she took up the lance, Rhongomyniad.
“I have never once thought of you as detestable. The reason I did not relinquish the throne was because you do not have the capacity to be king.”
Before Mordred could reply or react, Arturia rushed forward, impaling her on the spear. Mordred was able to land a fatal blow with Clarent to the King of Knights, but the blow from Rhongomyniad was the end of her. Her magic helmet shattered from the force of the blow, revealing her face. Mordred, weak and near death, reached out to touch Arturia’s face with her blood-soaked hand, but fell just short, denied even that minor wish.
”Fa….father…”

Player's Note: Mordred is under no illusion that she is anything other than a woman. But being brought up as King Arthur's "son", she desperately wants to be a man. At the same time, because she is used to wearing heavy armor, she enjoys wearing minimal clothing, displaying her body. Biologically, as a woman she will be attracted to men; though it's an attraction she may resist at first. At the same time, because she wants to be a man, she will find herself attracted to women as well, though she will deep down have a preference for men.
Warnings: Wouldn’t call her a woman. She’ll either cut your head off without hesitation or give you the darkest of warnings. Best of luck, traveler.
